Rosemary hydrolat (water of rosemary from rosmarinus officinalis)

Rosemary hydrolat is the aromatic water produced by the steam distillation of rosemary during the production of essential oil and it is full of aroma. It is gentle and effective: it contains only the most water-soluble chemicals from the plant material plus microscopic drops of the essential oils. It may be used undiluted without problems: it is unnecessary as they are just as effective in dilution. It is used as a mental and physical stimulant. Taking a bath with rosemary hydrolat is a great addition to oily skincare and is very good for relieving the pain from sprains and joint aches, working as an effective muscle relaxant; it also stimulates blood circulation (it helps with cellulite) and can reduce stress. Rosemary water has astringent properties and skin stimulating effects: it is therefore useful in toning slightly oily complexions and as a anti-acne blend. You can use it in beauty preparations on the hair to refresh and make it shine and improve the texture. It is also a room freshener: spray liberally around pets, cooking area, and other areas of your environments.

Notes:

Rosemary water has very few safety issues: it is contraindicated in pregnancy and should not be used if suffering from high blood pressure. If you apply it to your face, it should be diluted to 50% strength with purified water as it is dehydrating and will dry out the skin. Refrigerate, or store in a cool place after opening for best results.
